The Grass Gypsys: Lyrics

Just Passing Through

(The Grass Gypsys)
September 9, 2010

Written fall of 2006 on the chasing summer tour.

I was going downhill, leaving Pennsylvania,

on a random jaunt to empty a bank account.

Drove around twice, just passing through, a dance with the towns.

These towns were all beautiful, with rolling hills and plains,

and the leaves were changing, vibrant yellow and red.

It's funny I've just been traveling around,

leaving life up to fate and flow,

with the freedom I felt left spinning inside me

and the light and the love I've carried from home.

I was walking uphill, when a message came through

that he was obsessively thinking of me,

but before I could fall back to that distant place,

the universe disconnected me.

Yeah my phone had gone missing, the way that he found me,

until now I'd not heard the response.

Leaving PA, and he'd not said much anyway,

all the years that I knew him, words stuck to his heart,

and it's funny, I've just been traveling around,

leaving life up to fate and flow,

with the freedom I felt left spinning inside me

and the light and the love I'd carried from home.

Well I'm finally here on the road to no border,

I can feel I'm just passing through,

taking in all those mixed memories,

without the chords to reconnect the life I once knew,

and It's funny, I've just been traveling around,

leaving life up to fate and flow,

with the freedom I felt left spinning inside me

and the light and the love I'd carried from home...

You said this may be a bad time to call, but it's fine with me.
